I have a confession to make.......... I sometimes watch reality shows even though I've always been pretty much against them.
Believe it or not there are actually reasons for watching them as long as you don't get addicted or affected in any negative way.
First of all I enjoy a good laugh and being entertained by funny characters is not a bad thing.
So watching America's next top model, Jersey Shore, The Hills, Hells Kitchen, The Swan, The Biggest Loser or an old episode of Newly Weds with Jessica Simpson and Nick Lachey can make me smile and wonder who made these tv-shows, 'cause they are just as entertaining as soap operas were when I was a kid.
The only important thing is to understand that it's TV and nothing else, there's no need to analyze why the participants yell or fight with each other on some of the shows, you don't need to compare your own life to "Snooki"s og "Mike The Situation"s (Jersey Shore), don't get upset if you don't party every week or get cool job offers like they do on "The Hills". These shows are not reality, they are all set up to make you believe that it's real life.
I keep wondering how reality shows work, I mean you don't have to have a master's degree in anything to be on the show, all you need is a sad situation, self-confidence or just a weird lifestyle, that's what you need to conquer viewers. It's okay to watch for the grown ups who can actually see the difference between life and TV, but what sometimes worries me is how the children and especially teens get affected by what they see.
