My mom's been talking about yoga and meditation for years, but I didn't think I would actually try it. 'Cause something was holding me back, maybe I had a prejudice against yogis or maybe I even envied them. The balance they experienced, the control of mind and body, the calm, unstressed life... I wanted all that!
Meditation is a way of getting all of it, but I was against it. I thought that through meditation I would lose a part of myself and getting in touch with the unconscious part of my brain, just freaked me out. I tried it before through hypnotherapy and it was such a challenge. You can go back in time and change your way of handling some of the experience you had, let go of some hurtful memories or whatever.
Besides I thought meditation was silly, what could it do for me? Would I have to sit in a lotus position all day long with my eyes closed? Waiting and praying for a miracle to happen???
No! Actually meditation has nothing to do with religion. Yoga is not only for buddhists. And yoga is not only meditation, it's a practice of physical poses. A connection between body, mind and spirit.
You can solve a lot of problems through meditation and yoga, such as: stress, depression, anger, regret, frustration due to lack of love or sexual activity and many many more. Besides you can get a more balanced, calm life, more joy and understanding, power and strength.
I decided to check it out, to give it a try. Got a book about meditation and signed up for a yoga class. I'm curious, and I need it as a step towards my coaching education. I need to understand how it works, to improve my own life, calm down and be in control. No more stress.
