Inspiration is the keyword

I don't like working under pressure. In fact I enjoy working when ever I feel like working. That's exactly what I loved so much about my teaching job. I would work when I felt like working or when I really needed the money and then I would take as much time off as I felt was necessary.
I sure loved teaching, but now I feel like it's time to try something else, something a little different and maybe even new to me.
I don't get great ideas under pressure, i can't think if I am forced to do so. Ideas pop up when I feel inspired, when im surrounded by interesting people or when I travel. Sometimes that's just what you need, to step out of your comfort zone, walk a few miles and you'll see the difference.
I like traveling alone, then I get to see much more than I would notice if I was traveling with somebody. I like spending time at different airports, I'll find a quiet place and drink a coffee or a tea and watch people. Then suddenly words start popping up in my head, maybe sentences, thoughts and topics, I started carrying around a pen and paper or sometimes I use my phone to write all these things down. My thoughts, my observations, questions and ideas.
When I said it's time to try something else, I meant that I have to find a new way of making money, 'cause deep down inside that's what we all want. We wanna be able to support ourselves and afford all the fancy things and trips we've been dreaming of. I honestly don't like working for someone, I had a few okay bosses, but I just don't want to have a 8 to 4 / 9 to 5 kind of a job. Been there, done that and that's just not me! I want to plan my working hours and I want to be my own boss. To do that, you have to come up with a really great idea. I've been self employed before and I know how much effort you have to put into it and how much money you have to invest and how much sweat and tears it will cost you, because at some point you will get so stressed that you will just break down and spend days and days in bed with your door closed with a big sign on it: "PLEASE KEEP OUT"
That's reality for a self employed young business person and it was my reality for a while, until I got a great coach who would guide me in all my issues and help me out by supporting me and believing in me.
I know I want to be self employed again, but not as a teacher, as a writer. I've been writing since I was 14, and some of my work actually got published in a magazine and I even got a little reward for it. My long term goal is to write a book, but I still have too many subjects in my head I would want to write about, so I guess it's still not the right time to sit down and write a book. Because I want to write about something I feel very strongly about, but also something that people can relate to.
So for now Im just gonna take some babysteps in the right direction. I've been brainstorming on my next project and I decided to focus on my writing, spend more time on it and try to get it published. It's always been a dream for me, just like teaching, but after you achieve one goal, you will try to achive another one. Even though I'm aware of that I can't be good at everything, but I need to see what my special gift is.
I can do a little bit of everything, a little drawing, a little cooking, I can be really creative and make small fancy postcards, but as I said, I need to figure out what my gift is.
I know what I want, I know what I like doing, I just need to put more effort into it and keep on searching for inspiration and stay focused on the goal and the prize.
Internet sure made all of it easy! Inspiration is everywhere. All you need is out there, you just gotta know what to look for. Who to contact and what to offer. It's not that complicated, you just have to understand what people need and how to fulfill their needs and compete with others who also want to fulfill peoples needs. That's why you have to come up with something very unique, one of a kind type of product. It's not always possible, so you have to think really hard.
Luckily I have a lot of friends who are self employed, so through the years I've been gathering some pretty useful information on how-to. The thing is though, you can compare business situations and companies, but you can never get your problems solved same way as others do it. So no matter how much info I got from my friends I still didn't have a clue on how to manage my company, I had to start from scratch and build my way up. It took a lot of energy, but I learned so much, so all in all the experience was very giving.
Now that I know how to be self employed, I have to come up with some brilliant idea on how to get to the top with my writing. Due to the fact that I need to travel to get ideas and get inspired, I'm already planning my next trip. This time I want a sunny place with beaches and palm trees around me. 7 days of total relaxation and fresh juice, foreign language and exotic music.... Hmmm.... Where to go?
