But what's interesting is how you can use social media to brand or promote almost anything. I'm only gonna write about my own experience, nothing else, because I want to share with you how I used Facebook to advertise my business and how it can be used to other projects such as charity and raising awareness about people in need in other countries.
So.. on Facebook you can create pages, campaigns and ads. It's really a very powerful marketing tool which some people don't give too many thoughts, but I believe that Facebook is much more than a social network. It is ment to be used in more than one way.
When I started my language and communication business (while still studying) I needed a way to promote myself, to create awareness about what my company was offering, so besides google ads I choosed Facebook. I created a page, invited friends and gave all the necessary information about my company, but somehow it wasn't enough. I needed something bigger, I needed people to know about me, my skills and my product. So I decided to invest a little money in the ads on Facebook and I created a campaign.
Facebook is actually a brilliant tool, because it helps you a lot by giving you options, options I didn't even know about.
Step by step I learned how to use it, created a segment and just had to wait until I got all the "clicks" I wanted from potential customers.
I realized that Google and Facebook ads are great ways of getting people to notice you, so I started thinking how to create same awareness about charity and volunteer work.
I saw pages and ads about donating to people in Somalia, Afghanistan and I became more and more curious.
While spending a few months in Cairo, Egypt I visited an orphanage and an animal shelter and I kept thinking how to make people in a european country to donate or collect clothes, toys for the kids and stuff for animals at the shelters. First I decided to make a post on my wall asking friends to donate old clothes and toys for the orphanages in Cairo, it worked and I got a lot of things. Next step was to ask friends to share my post on their walls, it worked and some of them are helping me to collect the donations.
My next step is to make a page for charity and volunteer work at the orphanages and animal shelters in Cairo, but im still looking for new ideas and working alone on a project can be tough. So my idea with todays post is to inspire you to use social media to your own projects. Promote your business, help raising awareness on current issues in your community, make a cooperation with any orphanage or shelter and help them collect donations (i prefer clothes and toys instead of money), in other words live out your dream because it has never been easier and the social media can become your tool to success, just use your brain and imagination.
