The key to power

Dale Carnegie wrote the book “How to Win Friends & Influence People”, it’s been redden by a huge amount of people worldwide, since it came out in 1936. Carnegie wrote it as a textbook for his courses in HR and Effective Speaking.
I’ve been curious about the book since I saw it for the first time six months ago. It was at a friend’s house and I didn’t get a chance to read it, but I never forgot about it. I kept wondering why a book like that would be read by so many people, I guess the title says it all… We all want to have friends and be important, influencing other people and their decisions. Whether it’s right or wrong, that’s what all people want. We want to know how to affect others and make them like us.
While reading the book I got more and more sure about one thing, a book is not enough. Yes it sure can be used as a key to power and manipulation, but it also depends on the person. I’m sure people can learn to do just about anything, but you have to be aware of the circumstances and peoples personalities.
The ideas and advice Carnegie discusses in his book are based on psychology, that’s why it works. You have to understand people to be able to communicate on their level and once you understand how they think, and what they need, you got them!
I want to add these two following quotes from Carnegie’s book, it’s about criticism and condemnation:

“…human nature in action, wrongdoers, blaming everybody but themselves.”
“Let’s realize that the person we are going to correct and condemn will probably justify himself or herself, and condemn us in return.”
