It’s almost 5 PM here and I’m back at the hotel, trying to get some rest after spending the whole day walking around Manhattan. First thing I did this morning was to take a walk around the neighborhood and check out what’s around my hotel. Then I went to American Museum of Natural History, a pretty awesome place where I learned something new about stars, planets, the universe, animals and cultures, so I had a lot of fun there.
Next stop was Central Park. Walked for a little while there, took a few good shots near the lake and then of to Empire State Building. Oh my God, the view from up there has to be the most unbelievable view ever seen. I couldn’t believe my eyes, I could see all the areas, Central Park, Jersey, boats, airplanes, everything. I’ll be posting pics as soon as I can. But what I saw up there today was simply mind-blowing.
I’m so glad I went there with my friend, so I had someone to share this experience with, because it was better than I could ever imagine. No pics in the world could describe or show you the feeling you get while standing there and looking at New York. I got to think about people and dreams, how this city is full of hope because of the people who come here to fulfill their dreams and chase something. I remembered Alicia Keys and Jay-Z song “Empire State of Mind”, where she sings “There's nothing you can't do, now you're in New York……These streets will make you feel brand new, the lights will inspire you.” That’s how I feel right now. I feel inspired by the people I see and the places I go, the lights, subway, the yellow cabs, shops and restaurants, bakeries and so much more.
Tomorrow is another day with more to see and feel and I honestly can’t wait. This is really too good to be true. I’m here in New York, in the middle of everything and THIS is life. This is where everything happens. No time to stand still, everyone is moving so fast, the clock is running and the day is way too short, but I’m happy. I feel so good inside and I know that I found something that was missing in my life. I wanted to come here to see how people live here, what they do and what they all found so inspiring about NYC. I think I get the picture now, I understand what it is. But I still have a few more days here, more time to explore the city life and more time to visit the famous places. I have a few museums I need to check out, such as Guggenheim, MoMA (The Museum of Modern Art) where I’m gonna see art of van Gogh and Monet and last but not least I have to see the Met (The Metropolitan Museum of Art)
Gotta go for now and get ready for dinner, NY is really beautiful at night so I’m not gonna miss out on that opportunity, but before I go I have a confession to make…..
I changed my mind…. There’s no way I’m going home next week, definitely gonna postpone my flight. The plan was to go to Chicago after a few days in NY and then back to Europe, but somehow I changed my mind while drinking tea with milk at Starbucks.
After Chicago I’m going to Houston. Texas should be much warmer than here, so I’m gonna give it a chance and see what that part of US has to offer. I guess I could spend a week or two there and then we’ll see…. Sometimes I just get good ideas and some of them are even really great ideas, I believe this one is. ;-)
